Default ORM query from non programmer

Hi,

We have been approached by a developer who would like to work on a project and he mentioned that he uses ORM. We have no experience in code and would be grateful if anyone could shed light on:

1. Is it easy to take over a project which is based on ORM if you do not use it yourself?
2. What are your thoughts about ORM, is it efficient or outdated?

Many thanks to those that can help.

There are so many varieties of ORM out there and I cannot figure out which ORM you meant. Maybe that just disqualifies me.

But my thought is that take over the project only if you don't need to touch ORM stuff but use it as is. If the job requires you to modify it in any ways that means that you need to know whatever that is.
